Thundermist is community-oriented and community-responsive. We’re driven by the needs of the community - most specifically the needs of the underserved. We are the second largest community health center in Rhode Island serving over 25,000 patients statewide. Thundermist is a proven leader in community health in Rhode Island.
Thundermist recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary. In 1969, concerned citizens and local physicians volunteered their time in a family planning clinic in one of the city’s housing projects. A health center followed and 5 years later both agencies merged to form what is now Thundermist Health Center.

What began as a small, free clinic is now a large, thriving primary care center serving over 25,000 patients in three locations—Woonsocket, Wakefield, and West Warwick.
