The Wiley Center organizes individuals directly impacted by poverty and social injustice into a constituency group that advocates for changes that solve problems underlying their immediate crises.

Some of The Wiley Center’s recent victories:



  • Vigorously advocated for 30,144 RI households that had utilities turned off. Children under 2 are now protected from shut-offs due to hardship.
  • Pressured the PUC into liberalizing service restoration rules. Lower income families now pay an affordable percent of overdue bills and have an extended-payment plan for the balance.
