Alliance For Better Long Term Care’s mission is to improve the quality of life and health care of residents of long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and those who receive licensed health care or hospice in the home. As the Rhode Island State Ombudsman for Long Term Care, our staff and volunteers advocate for those whose rights have been violated, victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or financial exploitation.

Since 1979, as a non-profit, independent advocacy organization, the Alliance has helped protect the rights of elderly and/or disabled Rhode Island citizens. The Alliance also offers Building Bridges Intergenerational Program which brings children and nursing home residents together with visits throughout the school year. We also offer Advocacy, Mediation, Problem-solving, and Follow–up on behalf of long term care residents, family members, and health care agencies.
