Benefits of Membership

Fund members cite many benefits. Among them:

  • Joining other organizations in creating fairness and opportunity and democratizing philanthropy
  • Raising UNRESTRICTED operating support through allocations and donor directed gifts (total payments typically $2,500 to $12,000)
  • Collaborating with other agencies that share a similar mission
  • Building organizational and fund development capacity
  • Increasing visibility through public awareness

Key Criteria

To be considered for membership, an agency must meet The Fund's membership guidelines, some of which are:

  • Share The Fund’s mission
  • Involve its consumers in governance and decision-making
  • Show evidence of organizational and financial stability
  • Have its own 501(c)(3) status and be up to date on filings
  • Be Rhode Island based

Agency Responsibilities

The Fund relies on support from its agencies to keep costs down. Members must:

  • Commit to 35 hours/year of volunteer support:
  • Participate on committees
  • Help with workplace giving campaigns
  • Attend the annual roast
  • Prepare a self-evaluation on their performance
There is a modest membership fee (currently $250.)
