How the Fund Works
Board
The Fund for Community Progress is a 501(c)(3) corporation. The Fund operates under the leadership of a strong, collaborative board of directors made up of representatives from all member agencies plus a number of at-large members, supported by two staff members.
The Board meets four times a year and is responsible for overall governance of The Fund. It also determines each member agency's share of undesignated Fund revenues, a formula tied to each group's participation in The Fund's work.
Agencies
All Fund agencies have a seat on the board. Members help with the annual campaign, general fundraising and gaining access to new worksites. They assist with publicity and with special events. Agencies prepare annual self-evaluations to assess their own participation relative to their peers. Their performance directly influences the amount of undesignated Fund revenues they receive. Annual member dues are $250, except for one founding member that pays $100.
Committees
The real work of The Fund is conducted by our committees. Each year the Board of Directors votes on resolutions empowering committees to conduct specific work on behalf of the Board and to provide status reports at Board meetings. Committees have clear goals and actively work to advance The Fund’s mission. Agency board members are required to serve on at least one standing committee. At-large members are encouraged to participate in committee work.

How We Get and Use Our Funds
Fund revenues are derived from several sources, including corporate gifts, grants, profit from annual events, endowments, direct gifts from individuals and member dues. By far the largest source of revenue is workplace campaigns conducted by The Fund on behalf of its members.
Most gifts to The Fund are non-designated and go toward agency allocations and general use. Gifts that donors direct to specific agencies are passed on to those agencies except for 5% for uncollected pledges/administration (less than the industry norm.)
All money The Fund passes on to our agencies from you is unrestricted, so they have the flexibility to use it where it does the most good in your community.
Recent Figures
In fiscal year 2008, The Fund raised $379,945 for our member agencies and other charities designated by givers. We allocate most of this to the support of our member agencies.
